Nicole Désaulniers

   Popular Artist  Star Artist

Born in Shawinigan in the Mauricie, Nicole Désaulniers moved to the Ottawa region more than 35 years ago to start a career in scientific research while pursuing training in visual art first at Algonquin College and then at the University of Québec in Outaouais . Upon retiring in 2008, acrylic painting became her medium of choice and she happily returned to brushes and tubes of paint to finally create in complete freedom. In January 2009 she began a series of art classes offered at "La Cellule Créative" in Gatineau. This event is no stranger to the evolution of her work in recent years

Artist Statement

To express a state of mind, a vision or a feeling and managing to convey it's "essence" to an observer is the great challenge that I give myself. Beyond the picture there is the imaginary in which the viewer is invited to get caught.

Several series of paintings with different themes are part of my artistic journey. The paintings from theme (A): "Perception Occidentale de l'Orient'' express a fascination for the unknown. These oriental women, elegant and secretive, seem to draw Westerners into their intriguing universe. The paintings from theme (B): "Jardins secrets"  represent the secret gardens of the artist with the hope that the viewers will discover their own. In theme (C): "Floralies gestuelles" the canvasses were created from spontaneous colorful gestures. In theme (D): "émoticônes rêveurs" the paintings want to be a personal interpretation of the new form of expression of feelings used in modern social networks.
